What fantastic news from North Shropshire!!!
No - I am not taking politics I am referring to the arrival of a Crosville liveried Volvo B9T L/ East Lancs (Optare) Olympus that has just arrived at the Arriva Midlands depot in Oswestry. (It is seen below in Derby)
Thanks to the Area Manager Jack Grove this spectacular double deck bus is now assigned to the Oswestry depot and it is hoped that it will see service on the 2 Wrexham and Cefn Mawr corridor.
4111 (YJ08EER) is a trio of these unusual 'Olympus' that have been allocated to Oswestry. They were part of a batch of 16 that were new to Arriva Yorkshire in 2008. This batch of 16 came to Arriva Midlands in December 2020 and were based at South Wigston.
Originally built by East Lancs the Olympus was first produced in late 2006 but as East Lancs went into financial administration in early 2007 it became known as the Darwen Olympus and following the takeover by Optare in June 2008 it obtained its third name.
UPDATE
It has been out today (17th December) on the 2 and 2C running to Wrexham.
It is expected to be out tomorrow (Saturday 18th December) on the 10:38 from Oswestry to Wrexham, the 2C Cefn Mawr leaving Wrexham 1152 and then returning to Oswestry on the 2 leaving Wrexham at 1307.
