The Traffic Commissioner has published today a new registration for the 64 service from Llangollen to Glyn Ceiriog and Llanarmon DC showing that from 1st April 2022 Tanat Valley will return to operate the service taking over from Llew Jones of Llanrwst.
The 64 service from Llangollen to the Ceiriog Valley has a very interesting history and was operated for many years by Bryn Melyn. This firm was subsumed into GHA and the service was operated by the group until July 2016 when GHA ceased trading.
For a while there was no service until September 2016 when the contract was awarded to RJ's of Wem Limited a firm that emerged following the GHA collapse and which involved members of the GHA family and their wives. Unfortunately this company lost its licence to operate and in December 2016 Tanat Valley took over the service and operated it successfully until March 2017.
The contract for running the service was re-tendered in 2017 and it was won by the firm The Skiers Lodge Limited that traded under the brand of easyCoach. The firm made a good start to this contract and held an opening launch at Plas Newydd, Llangollen. The two vehicles that were intended to work the service were given names of the two ladies of Llangollen. However as time went on the service was not performed very well with an increasing number of journeys missed. This company ceased trading and in September 2018 the contract was again awarded to Tanat Valley.
When the contract was re-tendered in 2020 it was won by Llew Jones of Llanrwst who have operated the service to date.
