As indicated in an earlier posting there are to be significant changes to Arriva services in the Wrexham area from 11 September. It is believed that these changes have been enabled by a more generous funding to the company from the Welsh Government under Phase 3 of the Bus Emergency
Scheme funding scheme
1 Chester - Frequency improved from 20 minutes to 15 minutes
4A/C Penycae - No change to frequency but timings changed by 30 minutes
5 Llangollen - No change to frequency but timings changed by 10 minutes
8 Caia Park (anti-clockwise) - Increase of frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes
11 Minera - No change to frequency but timings changed by 15 minutes
12/12A Brymbo - All journeys now via Maelor Hospital as 12 (no 12A service) - no change to frequency but timings changed by 15 minutes
14 Brymbo - No change to frequency but timings changed by 17 minutes
21/21A Summerhill - No change to frequency but timings changed by 30 minutes. The 21A service which goes via the Hospital will be changed to the 21H service.
27 Mold - No change to frequency but timings changed by 7 minutes on journeys to Mold and 4 minutes on return journey. Lay over in Mold now 17 minutes from 6 minutes
33 Llay - No change to frequency but timings changed by 3 minutes
35 Plas Goulborne - Increase of frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes
41 / 41A Wrexham Industrial Estate - The Arriva website indicates that the Service 41A will be renumbered 41 The service will be increased to operate every 30 minutes around main shift times with additional trips also added during the evening. {this is 8 additional journeys}. However the timetable made available to download by Arriva shows not significant changes. Fortunately BusTimes does show the additional journeys as service W41.
42 - Stockwell Grove - 7 new journeys between 0857 and 1557
42A - Wrexham Industrial Estate - Two return journeys from the Industrial Estate at 0720 and 0820 will go via Hightown
44 - Barkers Lane - 7 new journeys between 0922 and 1622
Full details of the changes can be found on the Arriva website << https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/changes-to-services-in-wrexham>> also timetables are available to download but there is a little concern over the accuracy of the 41A.
These additional services and journeys may require an increase in PVR by about 5. Whilst vehicles may be a minor issue in sourcing it is suspected that there will be greater difficulty in sourcing the additional drivers required.
