Crosville Enthusists Club Tour North Wales September 2022

Yet another very successful and extremely enjoyable Crosville Enthusiasts Club tour took place on Saturday 10th September.

Not just one former Crosville bus but we had the privilege of enjoying two such vehicles.

The former DOG187 (B187BLG) ably driven by its owner Andy Hamer took us from Chester to Prestatyn using mainly the former L1 Coastliner route with a couple of quick visits to bus operators on the way.

At Prestatyn we then changed to the former ERG3 (OFM3E) and this was brilliantly driven by Nigel Massey and we had the privilege of having the owner Clive Myers offering his experiences with Crosville in his contribution to the commentary.  Tony Moyes, who had done most of he planning for the day, also offered us extremely interesting historical information about the area and the Crosville routes.   We followed the old M34 country route through Gronant and Llanasa and from Trelogan we followed the old M31 route through Trelawnyd, Gwaenysgor and Dyserth finally following the M35 circular route through Rhuddlan into Rhyl where there was a lunch time break and opportunity to see the activities at the Bus Station.

After lunch we set out along the promenade following the very old M89 route to Gwrych Castle.  We then visited Rhyd-y-Foel, Dolwen and then through Colwyn Bay where we then followed the M17 route through to Llandudno.  This route was introduced by Crosville when it took over from the bus operations of the former tram company so the route we took travelled close to the former tram route.

After a break in Llandudno we changed back to DOG187 and enjoyed a very pleasant ride returning to Chester.
