Goodwins, Mostyn

About to join the fleet is M573RCP    DAF SB3000WS601 / Van Hool T8 Alizee (S70F)   It was new in Aug 1994 to London Coaches (DV73), by March 2002 it was with Bolton School Services  and it came to Voel Coaches, Dyserth in August 2013.

The firm at Mostyn now have a school contract involving the Prestatyn High School and the Alizee will be a spare bus.

Enjoying the outside weather at the Mostyn yard for a number of days has been WS4522, the 1935 Leyland Tiger TS7 with Cowieson B34R body new to Scottish Motor Traction.

Withdrawn from service in December 1959 it spent time at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum It received a replacement body donated by FS 8584, a 1934 AEC Regal 4, which  was found in a shed somewhere in Wales and this was used to restore the bus to its current excellent condition. Since its restoration it has had a few owners but came to Goodwins by October 2022. One of its first outings was to take part in the funeral of Ronnie Stubbs who was part of a family that had operated buses in Gorton, Manchester and when the business ceased Ronnie went to work with Wes Goodwin as they had been friends for many years, The bus now carries a a tribute to Ronnie’s memory. Apparently it had been intended to give the Tiger the York Motors identity. This was the company that founder Alan first worked for. It does have their emblem below the driver's screen.
