Dennis Hutchinson has recently retired as a bus and coach operators (at the age of 80)
Dennis has run a bus and coach operation in Buckley since 1997. Before this he was involved in road haulage. The main service undertaken by the business was the Buckley local service known in the area as the 'Shopper'. He also had a few school contracts and did a some private hires. Unfortunately the Buckley town service was lost to other operators at certain times but regained after a period of time. In August 2022 the service was converted to a "fflecsi" (Demand Responsive) service and the contract for running the service was awarded to another operator.
Dennis managed the business alongside a significant role in local government where he is a Councillor on both Flintshire County Council and Buckley Town Council. He is currently Vice Chair of the County Council and has served as Mayor on the Town Council.
Since 2022 Dennis has operated just one vehicle on a school contract conveying pupils from and to the Welsh and Catholic schools in Mold.
This bus together with the contract are now being operated by S W Transport (Oare) of Brynford.
Dennis is offered a happy retirement although it is likely that his time will be well occupied by his continued local government service.
