David Jones ( D Jones and Son)

I need to report that David Jones has passed away on 23rd November. He was 80 years of age  Along with his son Gary they were the proprietors of D Jones and Son of Acrefair . 

The funeral will be at Pentrebychan Crematorium on Tuesday 20th December at 2pm.

David was one of four sons of Elias Jones who in 1969 started the bus business E Jones and Sons in Rhosllanerchrugog.  A split in the business occurred in about 1995 following disagreements apparently involving the direction of the firm. Initially David and his son Gary continued to trade as E. Jones and Sons differentiating this portion of the business using the word Passenger in the name. By 1998 David and Gary had changed their trading name to D. Jones and Son and later established a depot in Acrefair.

The business grew over the years until December 2017 when there was a sudden closure following arguments between Gary and some of the drivers..
