Wrexham bus company have their operating licence revoked.

Today (Wednesday 5th July) a Public Inquiry was conducted by the Traffic Commissioner for Wales, Victoria Davies, to consider disciplinary action against the firm of Yellow Travel Wrexham Limited. This firm trades as Time2 Travel and has an operating centre at Acton Park Garage, Box Lane, Wrexham. The company’s sole director is Christopher James Jackson.

The matter was before her at a Public Inquiry due to be heard in March 2023 but an application for an adjournment had been granted until a date in May. However just prior to the date of the May hearing a further request was made for an adjournment and this was granted with the hearing fixed for today.

Prior to today’s hearing the Traffic Commissioner had been informed that the sole Director, Christopher James Jackson, was unable to attend but that he had requested that the company be represented by his father. However there was no appearance by anyone today on behalf of the company and therefore the Traffic Commissioner decided that the matter would proceed.

After retiring to consider the evidence submitted by Officers of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (V.O.S.A.) together with recent correspondence from the firm she returned to state her findings. She indicated that the licence held by the company would be revoked with effect from 2345 hours of today (5th July). Further that there would be a disqualification from holding a licence in the future.

In giving her reasons for the revocation and disqualification she indicated her concerns about the number of Prohibitions issued, the lack of evidence of Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) and the conduct and lack of recording of driver walk-around checks. She stated that she placed the level of non-compliance in the “severe” category.

The Traffic Commissioner also stated that the company had not fulfilled the requirement of financial standing and that there had been no evidence or representation by the company of financial standing despite this being recently requested. She indicated that this non-compliance must lead to automatic revocation.

Christopher James Jackson, the sole director of Yellow Travel Wrexham Limited (trading as Time2Travel), was also previously a Director of the company Links Tours and Travels Limited now a dissolved company that traded from Grosvenor Road in Wrexham and which generated some adverse publicity following a disastrous trip to Euro Disney in 2017.
